Standing outside of Lockeys Farm on Downhill Lane about 1889. These restored buildings are on the left heading towards Nissan before the A19.(Red pantile roofs). In the photograph is James Lockey, his family and the farmworkers. The workers cottages in the picture date back to around 1750.

Boldon Colliery 1935. Harton Coal Company sunk the first shaft in 1866. By 1888, this modern coal mine was producing about 2000 tons of coal a day.

Blacks corner East Boldon was so called because the building on the corner was built as a cake shop by the "Blacks" family.The buildings  to the left is the East Boldon Co-operative store.
