The key to good gardening is placing the plant in the position that serves the plants needs.
Plants will only do well if you can give it the conditions to grow in that it would choose for itself.
If you are determined to have the plant, but do not have the right soil, grow them in pots.
Consider the final size of the plant and give it the correct space.
When playing with colour it is worth noting that colours that clash next to each other can be broken by using foliage plants between them.
Shape
and form are just as important as colour when you are trying to get
plants to set each other off. The mixture of contrasting shapes
together with height and scale will sustain an interest in the garden.
